Deep tissue massage is great therapy for breaking up and eliminating scar tissue from previous injuries. The deep tissue massage delivered by one of our therapist in Kanata, Almonte, and Carleton Place unblocks muscles so they can receive nutrients and oxygen to reduce inflammation and pain.

Deep Tissue Massage targets the deep tissue structure of the fascia and muscles, referred to as connective tissue. Of the many types of massage, deep tissue focuses on the release of muscle tension and chronic knots (aka adhesions).

There are two primary techniques for deep tissue massages, Neuromuscular therapy (NMT) and myofascial release.

NMT works by focusing on creating a balance between your central nervous system (brain, spine, and nerves) and your affected muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones and joints.

Myofascial release works by stretching and lengthening the connective tissue coverings called fascia that surround every part of our internal structure, including our bones, muscles, and organs. Tight fascia can cause pain and restrict joint mobility.

Both are effective, but we’ll find the right technique for you – be it one of these two deep tissue techniques or another – to relieve your pain.  We encourage you to at least consult with us about deep tissue massage before you get scared off by something that really does work, with minimal discomfort.
